People tend to choose to have an electric hob over a gas hob as it is quicker to heat up and cook with, it's also a lot easier to clean and you tend to get a more even spread of heat compared to a gas cooker. But what can you do if your having issues with your hob? Well there are a few things you can do yourself before calling out a professional!

  • Hob has tripped out/suddenly stopped working

Having an electric hob tripping out can be a common problem. It just means that you might've overloaded the power source that your hob is connected too. To fix this, all you need to do is unplug any extra appliances, reset the breaker and re-plug in the hob plug. Hopefully this should work, but if not then it could be a fault in the breaker itself or an issue with the insulation or the plug.

  • No heat coming from the hob

This is actually a more common problem than you would think. It will be an issue with the heating element. Over time and usage it will wear down and will eventually need to replaced.

  • No temperature change

If you're finding that the temperature isn't changing when you trying to increase or decrease it, it's possible that the thermostat has a problem. This is something that you would need to get a professional to come and check over.
