- Don't over fill the kettle
As silly as this one sounds, it's a really easy way to save energy. The more water you put in the kettle, the longer it will take to warm up and more energy the kettle will need to use in order to warm it all up. So only fill the kettle with as much water as you need.
- Don't put warm food straight into the fridge
Warm food being put into the fridge means the fridge will have to work harder to cool it down and in turn use more energy. If you're worried about keeping your food germ free, cover it partially to allow the steam to escape and then when the food has cooled down, put it into the fridge.
- Don't put a half wash in the washing machine
Unless you have a half load setting that is. The washing machine will be programmed to wash a full load so to make sure that it is working as efficiently as possible fill it as much as possible. If the clothes are still damp after the wash, make sure you spin it in the washer before putting it in your dryer.
- Put lids on pans
This is another easy one! When cooking, make sure you use pan lids so that you don't let the heat and energy escape. The food will cook quicker if you use a lid!
