There are a few reasons why your dishwasher might not be washing and cleaning your dishes. They include: 

  • Dirty inside - 

Food bits can accumulate inside your dishwasher. Cleaning the interior is always a good place to start, wipe down the interior and use a dishwasher cleaning solution or white vinegar on an empty run just to get it gleaming again. 

  • Dirty filter - 

As the filter is normally tucked slightly out the way under the racks, many people forget that the filter does need to be cleaned. The filter is there to stop any big bits of food etc from going into your drainage system and blocking it. Once you remove the filter (using the manufacturers guide) remove any of the debris and give it a clean using hot soapy water and a soft brush. 

  • Spray arms cogged 

The water gets shot out at high speed from the spray arm and this pressure can be affected if the holes get clogged. Make sure to check the manual on how to correctly remove the arms, then use a tooth pick to clean the holes and hot soapy water to clean the arm itself.
