In a testament to the power of community compassion, Paul Davies Kitchens & Appliances has embarked on a mission to help those facing life-limiting illnesses by extending a heartfelt gesture to Bury Hospice. This act not only underscores the company's commitment to making a positive impact but also demonstrates the profound difference businesses can make in the lives of individuals and families during challenging times.

Bury Hospice: Providing Compassionate Care in the Heart of the Community

Nestled in the heart of the community, Bury Hospice stands as an independent charity, providing expert care and unwavering support to individuals facing life-limiting illnesses and their families. At the core of its mission lies a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, and professionals committed to offering comprehensive care that transcends the physical, addressing the emotional, spiritual, and social needs of those under its wing.

Bury Hospices Comprehensive Approach to Compassionate Care

Bury Hospice has been a vital source of compassionate care since its inception in 1991. Rooted in the community, the hospice has consistently provided invaluable palliative and end-of-life care to countless patients and their families across Bury.

A Holistic Haven: The Inpatient Unit

The Inpatient Unit at Bury Hospice is designed to offer a calm and caring environment. Purpose-built with single rooms, each featuring an en-suite shower room and terrace overlooking the gardens, the unit ensures a personalised and comforting atmosphere. The dedicated staff is committed to treating everyone with dignity, respect, and compassion.

Extending Compassion Beyond the Hospice Walls: Community Outreach Service

Bury Hospice's commitment to compassionate care extends beyond its physical boundaries through the Community Outreach Service. This service provides education, personal, practical, and emotional support directly in patients' homes. The outreach team, supported by volunteer outreach buddies, engages with patients early in the diagnosis process, offering information and signposting to available help and services. Recently expanded to seven days a week, the outreach service is poised to introduce a night respite service in the near future.

Enhancing Well-being through Complementary Therapy

Complementary therapy plays a crucial role at Bury Hospice. Led by former nurse Johanna Cohen, the therapy services offer Reflexology, Reiki, Indian Head Massage, and Relaxation Therapy to patients and their families. These natural and supportive therapies complement conventional medicines, focusing on enhancing overall well-being.

Navigating Grief: Bereavement and Family Support

What's more, Bury Hospice recognises the profound impact of grief and provides extensive support through a specialist family bereavement counsellor. Initiatives such as the Weekly Walk & Talk Group, Bereavement Drop-in Cafés, the Sunflower Group for children aged five to 11, and annual bereavement events offer solace and understanding during difficult times.

Bringing Treatment Closer to Home: Outpatient Clinics

The Living Well Centre hosts crucial outpatient clinics, including the twice-weekly Christie clinic and a Motor Neurone Disease (MND) clinic in collaboration with Salford Royal Hospital. These clinics not only bring essential treatments closer to home but also enhance accessibility and convenience for patients.

Inclusivity in Action: Homeless-Friendly Commitment

Demonstrating a commitment to inclusivity, Bury Hospice has signed the Homeless Friendly Pledge. This commitment involves collaborative efforts with existing community groups and services to ensure the accessibility of hospice services to the homeless community.

Through its comprehensive and community-focused approach, Bury Hospice stands as a beacon of compassionate care, providing support and solace to individuals and families during their times of need.

Paul Davies' Gift to Bury Hospice

In a gesture that speaks volumes, Paul Davies Kitchens & Appliances has donated sets of pans to Bury Hospice. Beyond being kitchen essentials, these pan sets symbolise a community's collective support, contributing to the hospice's ongoing mission to provide expert care and support to those in need.

The Impact of Giving

The funds generated through initiatives like these are indispensable for Bury Hospice, ensuring its continued ability to offer free care and support. This support, rooted in dignity and compassion, plays a pivotal role in transforming the lives of individuals facing life-limiting illnesses.

Contributing to the hospice's mission not only uplifts those in need but also fortifies the bonds that make our community a haven of compassion and care for all. May this act of generosity echo as a resounding reminder that, even in the face of adversity, the collective power of community kindness can nurture hope and create a brighter future for everyone.
